Golden Rust
03:58
|
|||
Heaviness fills your head
The capillaries burst, your skin grows red
So I’ll begin devising plans
To rid you of that undeserving man
If up to me, you’d wear the crown
But you’ll take it down
Its gold will rust
You’ll bury it beneath you as it gathers dust
Royal fate
In the woods
You ran from him
Both legs gave out, the wolves, they ate your limbs
And with last breaths
Now whispering
Sounds of “Sleep, perchance to dream”
If up to me, you’d wear the crown
But you’ll take it down
Its gold will rust
You’ll bury it beneath you as it gathers dust
And the jewels will fade
It’s judgement day
And I”m not there beside you in the end
So hear, here is the schism you’ve been dreaming
right now rings out the final words
When you laid it down
Oh, that golden rust
Was buried there beneath you
Lined with painful dust and ten feet under ground
How is that schism you’d been dreaming?
The lights fade out and then our story ends

I'm Coming Back
02:58
|
|||
Although you play it off
The pounding in your chest
How they’d write you off
When sensing your own death
But you can’t do that
This pain is in your head
Well I’m coming back
And for once I can see it
To end all the wrongs, it’s best just to beat it
Then wait it out
I’ll tell you something
That I learned late one morning
When rising from sleep and the rain started pouring
Here, starts it out:
Best the bet you know
That the gamble is the the whole
And you’re crawling out, crawling out
Fighting for control
Of the body, mind, the soul
Then you’ll knock it out, knock it out
I was told by someone that
“You never can console thoughts of inner doubt”
Figured out, that I’ve been been getting old
And that weight that bogs and tolls is the mental clout
Well now that I’m back
I can finally see it
I’m done with the yawning
The longing for sleep
And they’ll tear up the papers
They’ll throw out the pills
This here is a tale of
The clinical years
That were sorted out

Mexico
04:01
|
|||
I sit and think of circumstance
It follows me to sleep
If it’s said that time is of the essence
How can you not see the hourglass grow weak
It cracks inside, it breaks then it leaks
I heard a tale of great regret
A man stood at the door
As she left there was no laughter
Just silence, nothing more
His years came to an end
Still trapped inside was “What could have been?”
Do you take a chance and go?
Are you scared of what’s in store?
For timing is key
I drove all night to Mexico
And as I fought off sleep
In the distance sound an ancient voice
That bellowed every street
As chills spread through the bone
I caught my breath, enlisted my speech
“I’ve never felt at ease before
But out here in the deep
Desolate land I can’t claim my own
I’m figuring out what’s real”
And now unmistakably
I feel release wash over and clean
Do you take a chance and go?
Are you scared of what’s in store?
For timing is key
I’ll take a chance on loneliness
I’ll wait it out and win
Now I know that somewhere out there
Lies a soul whose souls’ my twin
And in some poetic dream
I’ll fall asleep
Wake up without need
Do you take a chance and go?
Are you scared of what’s in store?
For timing is key
When every dream is fighting you
‘Till the end
Through every scene

Wrung out, once again
Shattered defeat
I once was witnessing bliss then
Fell to my knees
I was an easy ploy
So what’s left?
Nights when I’m driving away
I’ll stop and think about it
As you lay down your head
Is it filled with regret?
Give up on that feeling
The “haven’t you” bit
And I”ll sit back reminiscing
Missing all this
I was an easy ploy
So what’s next?
All my fears
Come to me in dreams
So I know
When it’s eating me within
As you lay down your head
Is it filled with regret?
Is your life laid out
Like the pictures you’ve seen?
